Mod description
- This plugin helps GTA V Enhanced run smoother and crash less during heavy action.
- It increases the number of decals (bullet holes, blood, tire marks, graffiti) the game can handle before cleaning them up.
- It also adjusts a small streaming check so world assets load more reliably.
- Everything is done in memory only — no permanent game files are changed.
- Choose from simple presets (Vanilla → Ultra). Medium is safe for most PCs, Ultra is for stronger builds.
Features
Presets (0–4): 0=Vanilla (512), 1=Low (768), 2=Medium (896), 3=High (1024), 4=Ultra (2048)- Safe fallback: if the game is updated and a patch can’t be applied, it skips without crashing
- Optional log file confirms what was patched
- Minimal and reversible — only touches limits, no gameplay rebalance
Installation
- Install ScriptHookV.
- Drop DecalPatch.asi into your GTA V game folder (same place as GTA5.exe).
- Place DecalPatch.ini next to it and set your preset if needed.
- Launch the game and check DecalPatch.log to confirm it’s working.
Requirements
Uninstallation
- Delete DecalPatch.asi and DecalPatch.ini. No permanent changes remain.
Permissions
- You may not redistribute, repackage, upload, or mirror this mod without prior permission.
- If you reference it, provide proper credit and a link back to this official page.
- Do not include it in modpacks or rehosts.

@JaliscoGDL Just one question, in the description you say to have dimput8ddl, but for the improved version shouldn't it be ximput1_4, because dimput8ddl is for the legacy version or am I wrong?

@supergamer777 It's built for Enhanced and not tested on Legacy so there might be memory mismatches.

@JaliscoGDL Tested in my game right now, no crashes while loading (Legacy, 15th of September latest build). Can you see below if the log confirms it has loaded correctly and is acting in my game?

@William Halverd It won't crash it will just do nothing, from your log I see it was able to write the Decals to a larger memory block but It looks like the fxBox signatures are different.

@JaliscoGDL do you know if changing the signature from fxbox can make it work? idk the application signature of GTA Legacy so your ASI can load it

@tonaz If your game crashes on load, make sure you’re on the lastest Expanded & Enhanced build, update ScriptHookV, and use safe defaults in DecalPatch.ini (Level=2, Imm=0x1004). Remove other ASIs to test for conflicts.
