This is might be the best guide for GTA Modding ever, love the cover works and the guide itself, so detailed and easy to understand. It's like Rockstar from other dimension, and they support modding, this might the quality you might get from them
11/10
You didn't understand what I meant. I wanted to extract the mlo that can only be displayed online to sp, so that you can use the online mlo without using a script to enable the online mode. Because there are many mods that conflict with enabling online mode, I want to extract the mlo of online mode as an addon mlo
Nice! Wish I had this before I started - would have saved me days if not weeks of teaching myself through panicked forum searches with lots of trial and error - Great Work! Anyone starting out should give this a thorough read
@JohnFromGWN - 1 thing I want to know what to do when game crashes due to dlclist.xml entries. I have at the moment 134 entries works perfect but adding 1 more game crashes during load no matter what addon I am adding to the dlclist.xml? It drives me crazy. HELP. I have been modding ther game on and off for 9 years now, but this is very weird?
@bmw740il As I've written in the past, doing remote troubleshooting is not ideal. From past experience, if adding 1 more mod crashes the game it is very likely you have a syntax error in your dlclist.xml. Assuming it's not the same mod that's crashing your game. There is also a very common misconception that Open 4 will give you precise error message when there is a syntax error with the dlclist.xml. Fact is that's untrue. Getting back to your issue:
Make sure that all your tags are properly opened and closed. Don't mix cases. if you open with Item, close with Item, not item. If you want, post your dlclist.xml to pastebin and I'll take a look. When we had the forums we saw dozens of dlclist.xml errors causing crashes or other issues.
@JohnFromGWN - My dlclist entries up til 134 works perfect all syntaxes are working but adding 1 more addon no matter what addon game crash (I have tried around 15 new addons 1 by 1). I checked my other syntaxes and the entry that makes game crash are identical to the ones that are working. Did RS put a hardcoded limit to entries in that list?
@JohnFromGWN - I have verified all game files, all are verified no errors. But I put 5 of my working addon mods into 1 of my carpacks, they do work, Off course I also reduced the entries in the dlclist by 5, but now it again impossible to add any entries no matter what addon. Tried to add 3 more one by one still game crash, Super weird. John - HGow many entries do you have in your dlclist?
@bmw740il Hi.
1. No, there isn't a theoretical limit to the number of lines or addons. Some modders easily have thousands of addons in dlclist.xml. RAM, VRAM, RPF size, corrupt files, script conflicts, wrong gameconfig.xml - those are factors that crash a game.
2. Dlclist.xml without any syntax errors. As I wrote before, when the forums were here, i saw many cases where the syntax looked wonderful but it was wrong despite Open 4 "approving" it.
I don't know what your issue is and I'm not a gambling man, but my bet is 100% on your dlclist.xml as the starting point.
@JohnFromGWN - I think this is right the pastebin link: https://pastebin.com/kUSfcgnn
@JohnFromGWN - I found the culprit. It was never the dlclist.xml. I have made a pack of car sounds a while back maybe 5 months. In the content.xml there was a car sound I moved to another of my sound packs, but the entries where in file but the audio folder was in the other sound pack. But its very weird it just started to make trouble when I cut down on entries in the dlclist. But I got it fixed. All is working. Halleluja.
@bmw740il Good. I'm glad you found the error. And, yes, it makes sense it was something you modified. No change, no issues. Changes...potential issues.
@JohnFromGWN why u dont active here like gta5mod website ? u r Genius and innovative Pal . You recently deleted all ur files and by chance found them on gta5mod
@JohnFromGWN Apologies for the derailment but I just noticed all your other mods, they have vanished!? What happened?
@gtavjamal A moderator here, decompiled, edited, and uploaded my TV script on pastebin - without permission. This was under the false pretense that my script was causing crashes (it wasn't) and his edited version would fix all issues and school me at the same time. Well wrong on all counts. The script was fine and my knowledge is light years ahead of his.
@JohnFromGWN Sorry to hear that. Damn that sux! Now the community misses out. You were on a roll again!
Surprising it was a moderator since everyone knows the default rule of no uploading someone elses mods to other sites unless the author says otherwise.
@gtavjamal It was very surprising and definitely set a precedent...so after short reflection, I thought F it. I'm taking all the scripts down. It's just the principle - taking someone's work, decompiling it, making changes, and then publicly posting it - without any permission nor any consideration for the author.
@JohnFromGWN Fair enough good call! I am guessing you are rather passionate about scripting but,,,
โNever put passion before principle. Even if win, you loseโ - Mr Miyagi
@gtavjamal That sums it up pretty well.
@JohnFromGWN Hey, I really need to ask you a question about GTA V, you know, now it calls Grand Theft Auto V Legacy, right? so, just a few days after GTA V been renamed, I started to notice very strange things happening with my game, at first I had to reinstall it, cause for some reason the Rockstar Games launcher didn't found it, and it worked, but now I even can't launch my game, I just see the loadscreen forever... I tried to figure out what exactly causes this, but I still haven't found any logically explainable solution... of course, when I temporarily removed all the mods, my game works, but the problem here seems to be in something else, because when I return all the mods back, the game in most cases continues to work, and I can play even with mods, but... sometimes after I exiting the game, and tries to launch it again, I can't do it because the launcher doesn't see the game again, or because it appears again the loadscreen forever. I don't think I need to contact Rockstar support with this, caus the mods... so, I hope you can help me somehow, I will be very happy if you just answer me anything about this. Thank you๐
@JohnFromGWN Looks like it was my fault and my game wouldn't load because of some broken MLO mod... despite the fact that I used this mod before, and it worked, I think my issue with infinite loadscreen is solved. Thank you again๐
@ALEXSYS Hi, I'm sorry, I just saw your post now but it seems, thankfully, that you fixed your issue. Good! You know sometimes we make very small changes to the game or R* makes a minor change and all of a sudden the game hangs or crashes. Frustrating, but that's the reality. You did the right thing - you first check to see if the game itself runs ok without mods. Then by elimination you remove mods. A few weeks ago I had loaded the Nordschleife mod which I hadn't loaded for a long time and it crashed my game immediately. I couldn't figure it out and out of frustration I went to look at the comments page and there was a fix suggested and it worked. Now here's the funny part. My game is frozen at 2372 and has been frozen for ages so it did not make sense for this mod to all of a sudden crash. But even though my mods are frozen, the rest of the game is updated so obviously something in the update changed everything. This has only happened once to me since i reverted but it just shows you how any change - the one we make to hardware, software, or mods - can break our game.
