LIVING LS AIs (v3.1) - THE ULTIMATE AI WORLD OVERHAUL
For over a decade, Los Santos has been populated by cardboard-cutout pedestrians shouting the same three phrases before running into lampposts. Today, that era ends permanently.
Living LS AIs v3.1 is a complete, highly optimized overhaul of Grand Theft Auto V's ambient population. Running entirely off-thread to prevent performance drops, the script assigns randomized names, jobs, backstories, memories, and attitudes to every pedestrian in the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT'S NEW IN V3.1 - IMMERSION PATCH
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vehicle Chat NPC Freeze Bug — Fixed:
A critical bug present in v3.0 has been fully resolved. When initiating a conversation with an NPC seated inside their vehicle, the script was accidentally calling CLEAR_PED_TASKS_IMMEDIATELY on the seated ped, which caused GTA V to forcibly eject the NPC from the vehicle while simultaneously freezing the car in place. NPCs now stay correctly seated throughout the entire conversation. The vehicle remains parked and the NPC remains inside. They will only exit if they choose to via the [OUTOFVEHICLE] tag themselves.
Immersive Chatbox Hide Mode:
A new toggle has been added to the LLAI in-game menu under Settings. Enabling Hide Chatbox completely removes the subtitle panel, chat log, and all HUD overlays from the screen during an active conversation. Only the NPC's voice plays. This is designed for roleplayers who want zero UI interference and a fully cinematic experience. The toggle can be switched back off from the same menu at any time.
Saved Memory NPCs — Spawn and Remember:
This is the biggest feature addition in v3.1. NPCs you have built a relationship with can now be permanently saved as a named profile. Open the LLAI menu, navigate to Saved Memory NPCs, and select Save Current NPC. Their ped model, personality data, relationship score, and full conversation memory are written to a local profile. To respawn them at any time, go to Saved Memory NPCs, select Spawn NPC, and pick their name from the list. They will spawn near you with the exact same appearance and full awareness of every past conversation you have had with them. Saved NPC profiles are stored in the LLAI SERVER/npc_memory/saved/ folder inside your GTA V scripts directory.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT'S NEW IN V3.0 - THE BIGGEST UPDATE YET
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fixed Rate Limit Error 429 in Groq API:
We have resolved the rapid 429 rate-limiting issues on the Groq API by introducing an automated model-changing chain that rotates dynamically through three distinct LLaMA models. If a key or model encounters limit restrictions, the script immediately hot-swaps to the next available configuration seamlessly in the background.
The Gemini Live WebSocket Bridge:
We have introduced a persistent, local WebSocket server developed to connect directly to the Gemini Live API. By bypassing standard HTTP overhead, response times have been slashed to milliseconds. The required portable runtime files are pre-packaged within your download, allowing full real-time speech and response streaming with absolutely zero system-wide installation required from the user.
Autonomous NPC-to-NPC Scene System:
You can now link two completely independent NPCs and watch them hold a fully autonomous AI conversation. The script registers and pre-caches the headshot texture data of both NPCs on frame one to avoid flickering. It then manages an iterative, turn-based queue, enabling them to argue, joke, or react to each other face-to-face. Once the conversation is naturally closed after a minimum of ten exchanges, the AI appends a shutdown tag, and the script releases them back to their ambient wander states.
Seated Vehicle Window Chatting:
You can now initiate conversations with NPCs who are currently seated inside parked or idling vehicles. The script physically freezes the vehicle in place to prevent the driver from driving off immediately, but keeps them seated rather than forcing them out of the car. Drivers understand they are speaking through a rolled-down window, know the exact status of their vehicle, and can use specific exit or driveaway commands to naturally conclude the interaction.
Gangster Ped Aggression System:
We have completely rewritten the relationship and fear thresholds for gang-affiliated peds such as Ballas, Vagos, Lost MC, and Aztecas. When threatened or held at gunpoint, these peds will completely bypass standard civilian surrender behaviors. They are hardcoded to choose aggressive retaliation instead, calling for backup, throwing hands, or initiating a shootout.
Unified LLAI SERVER Directory Structure:
To keep your GTA V directories clean, all secondary files, audio buffers, local memories, and bridge servers have been consolidated into a single subfolder: scripts/LLAI SERVER/. This makes installation a simple drag-and-drop process.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CORE OVERHAUL FEATURES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Aukaat Check (Surrender System):
Engaging in physical combat with an NPC and reducing their health below 140 HP will trigger a massive shift in their behavioral tasks. Their ego shatters, and they physically stagger, drop their weapons, and beg for mercy on their knees or with their hands up. The script ensures that their final, terrified dialogue is fully buffered and played before releasing the ped.
Bodyguards, Allies, and Accomplices:
Earn trust through progressive relationship scores. NPCs can eventually be recruited into your active squad. Applying the homie tag boosts their health by ten times, arms them with an assault rifle, and adds them to your active protecting group. The accomplice status enables them to act as a silent crime partner who stays nearby and fights alongside you when threats emerge, without forcing them to constantly follow your footsteps.
Upgraded 100m Witness Engine:
A massive observation radius allows nearby NPCs to remember and react to player-induced shootings, brawls, vehicle thefts, explosions, and even dead bodies lying nearby. NPCs within this radius are marked. If you approach them later, their dialog dynamically reflects what they witnessed, holding grudges or expressing terror rather than presenting generic greetings.
Rebuilt Waypoint GPS Lift System:
Static location tags are dead. Drop a GPS Waypoint on your map, ask an NPC driver for a lift, and they will drive you there natively using GTA's built-in driving nodes. You enter the passenger seat safely without pulling the driver out. While on the road, you can command them to change driving speed, pull over, or end the ride.
Gunpoint Aim Detection:
Aiming a weapon directly at an NPC's head instantly shifts them into a hostage state, forcing them to put their hands up, drop to their knees, or hand over their wallet cash. Civilians comply out of sheer terror, while cops or gangsters react with immediate tactical hostilities.
Car, Dirt, and Radio Awareness:
NPCs dynamically judge your vehicle's manufacturer, color, dirt level, and body damage. They will also aggressively roast your music taste based on the neighborhood they belong to. They listen to what station is playing in real-time and comment if you change stations mid-conversation.
Interior and Scenario Context:
Dialogue adapts on-the-fly inside locations like the Vanilla Unicorn strip club, Ammu-Nation, barbershops, and convenience stores. NPCs also reference their active scenario when approached, such as jogging, smoking, or working.
Proximity E-Toggle:
Simply walk near an NPC and press [E] to lock-on focus with a 4-second countdown. Press [E] again to instantly open the chat menu. No messy aim-to-talk required!
Expanded Multilingual Dialect System:
NPCs are no longer limited to standard English; they now natively support a wide range of localized, street-accurate dialects. You can change languages on-the-fly by opening the LLAI menu, navigating to Settings, selecting Language Mode, and choosing your language. Alternatively, you can configure this directly in your LivingLSAIs.ini file by setting LanguageMode equal to your preferred language.
Supported Language Configurations:
- English (LanguageMode=english): Standard American English street dialect.
- Hinglish (LanguageMode=hinglish): Authentic Hindi-English street slang mix paired with Romanized screen text and Devanagari Hindi spoken voices.
- Spanish (LanguageMode=spanish): Conversational Spanish street dialogue with localized regional slang.
- Portuguese (LanguageMode=portuguese): Brazilian Portuguese containing regional terms (Mano, Cara, Parça).
- Japanese (LanguageMode=japanese): Casual, natural Japanese containing informal speech styling (Anata, Omaera, Kimi).
- French (LanguageMode=french): French street slang (Mon ami, Mec, Putain). Note that male characters fallback to English voices due to vocal modeling boundaries.
- Italian (LanguageMode=italian): Conversational Italian slang (Ciao, Fratello, Amico).
- Chinese (LanguageMode=chinese): Natural, conversational Mandarin Chinese.
The moment you switch languages, NPCs will immediately adapt their entire cognitive model, cultural slang, and vocal parameters on the very next conversation.
Animal Soundscapes:
Animals bypass TTS. They use unique, instinct-driven thought blocks accompanied directly by high-fidelity native animal calls.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CORE ACTION TAGS GUIDE (AI CAPABILITIES)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our custom-tailored system prompt enforces strict tag discipline. Here is what NPCs can dynamically do at the end of their spoken replies:
- [HANDSUP] : Surrenders, raising hands in the air.
- [KNEEL] : Drops to one knee in defeat or hostage situation.
- [FIGHT] : Initiates a physical fist or melee attack.
- [SHOOT] : Pulls out a weapon and opens fire on you.
- [STOPFIGHT] : Halts all combat and stands down immediately.
- [FLEE] : Screams and runs away in absolute terror.
- [CALLCOPS] : Calls the police, increasing player wanted stars.
- [CALLCOPS2] : Reports a situation, dispatching a patrol (No Wanted Stars).
- [CALLGANG] : Summons armed gang backup to attack you on scene.
- [LIFT] : Agrees to drive the player to their map Waypoint.
- [ENDLIFT] : Stops the car and lets you out once the GPS destination is reached.
- [PAUSELIFT] : Pulls over temporarily (press F to get back in and continue).
- [DANCE] / [STOPDANCE] : Starts or stops a continuous dancing loop.
- [PUSHUP] : Drops down and does push-ups.
- [GIVEMONEY] : Hands wallet cash over to the player.
- [SMOKE] : Lights up a cigarette.
- [CLAP] : Claps hands (mockery or applause).
- [RADIO-STATIONS] : Natively changes your car's radio station (e.g., [RADIO-OFF], [RADIO-LOS-SANTOS]).
- [DRIVEAWAY] : Seated drivers speed away from you, closing the chat.
- [OUTOFVEHICLE] : Seated drivers step out of their car to speak face-to-face.

@ZEXIVA77 You asked what specifically could be improved: There are inconsistencies between what the player sees occurring in-game (such as receiving 42 dollars) and what the AI is improvising (saying that they are giving you 20 dollars). The jittering npcs shaking back in forth when locked into dialogue, and looping attempts to enter the vehicle. These are the main things I think you may be able to sort out and fix over time.
yo bro, good mod but npcs dont hear me tho.how i can fix that?
@MCDONALDSDRAGONXX1 Hi there! I really appreciate you taking the time to test the mod and write a detailed review. I'm glad you liked the realistic voices and found the dialogue engaging.
However, I noticed a bit of a funny contradiction in your comment: you started with 'BEWARE' and ended with 'DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK', but the actual review in the middle says 'honestly its pretty good' and 'overall very good mod'.
In the PC modding community, terms like 'BEWARE' and 'at your own risk' are strictly reserved for harmful files that contain viruses, trojans, or scripts that corrupt save games. Since this mod is 100% safe, clean, and you actually enjoyed it, using those alarming warning words might accidentally mislead other players who are just quickly scanning the comments section.
It would be a huge help to the community if we didn't scare off potential players with warning headlines for a mod you actually liked! 😄
As for the gas station worker changing his story, that's just a classic quirk of AI memory. Since it uses real-time LLMs, the AI can experience slight memory drifts as the conversation gets longer. He didn't get fired; his digital brain just got a bit confused!
Thanks again for the support, and I hope you keep enjoying your safe chats in Los Santos!
@ZEXIVA77 The NPC memory "quirks" you mention are unfortunately the state of chat AI in 2026. This is because of what is called "context rot" and also AI hallucination. Online implementations allow for greater context memory but it still happens. Other issues you can have with AI is the NPC going from first person to third person.
One way to mitigate these issues is to provide contextual info in the chat prompt or in text files. But honestly, it's these AI "failures" that make the game more random and even amusing at times, Of course you can't do much about hallucination and it does, and will, happen.
It would be great to have a forum where devs could exchange on implementing AI chat and TTS. A dedicated forum and not the one that has been around forever..it sucks. If you're interested I'll see if i can find a free forum host with decent latency.
bro Can You Tell Me A Step By Step Installation Please ?
@OpenSourceGTAV @lelac14
Interesting stuff, but for now not my cup of tea.
A Shout out to the OpenSource community, I'm most delighted you're still trailblazing & forever finding clever ways in breaking barriers!
it crash my game everytime i start a conversation
@Jamaica8731 which llm you are using groq or gemini
@Jamaica8731 also please use latest script hookv dotnet nightly
Hey any plans for deep seek? its api is cheap as FUKKK
RageScriptHook not needed anymore?
@Cruel no
out of all the ai mods out there this one i think is the best one.
its very smart and has fast responses, but i do wish there were ways to turn off all the text boxes to make it more immersive.
also you cant talk to an npc while they are riding in the car with you since the car freezes in conversation even when the npc isnt driving
for being pretty new tech though this is amazing. i cant wait for games to have npcs like this naturally
can we link it to our local llm like qwern 3.6 27b/ 35b or deepseek?
@goldenwolf333 your bug is fixed in v3.1 thanks for your respect man
Please tutorial for insert api
Does this work with Script Hook Enhanced?
Queria entrar em contato para pedir uma criação de um mod como faço?
Can I use this mod without internet?
Dumb question, sorry, I'm a little dumb, but does it use any LLMs/generative AI? Cause I don't really support it. No hate, just want to know. Sounds like an epic mod.
